Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai episode 3

The OP and ED sequence is full of Gauche, and we got to see Jiggy Pepper, Aria in casual/party-clothes (So pretty! <3)

Niche was adorable trying to cheer Lag up, and Lag and Sylvette crying together was amazingly cute as well. I don't have a lot to say about this episode but I loved every single second of it and it looks really promising! I get the feeling I'm going to love this season even more than the first one! =D

Shiki episode 10

Okay. I know I haven't been blogging about this series for a while, but that doesn't mean I dropped it or anything, on the contrary, I have been enjoying every second of every episode to the fullest, for this anime has stolen my heart.

Let me start by saying than none of what happened was actually really that much of a surprise for me. I'm not saying I saw it coming from the start, I was just stupid enough to read some spoilers, otherwise I would never have figured out. I mean, having the main character be killed not even halfway the series... That's quite the extraordanary plot-twist right? Even though I knew what was going to happen, this episode still left me awestruck and at a loss for words. Crap, what an amazing anime this is.

So first things first. The episode started out quite normal I guess. Except for the timeshift thing. They went back in time to show us stuff that happened pretty much at the same time as the stuff they showed us last week, only from a different point of view. For ecample we got to see Shizuka-chan waiting in Natsuno's room, and Natsuno's mom offering tea to her and stuff. She continued to be bratty, and disappeared before Natsuno got home. So he didn't get killed just yet. Apparently Shizuka was only there to get permission for her "onii-chan" to enter the house.

Two days later is when things got real bad. Natsuno was sitting in his room armed with a wrench and ready to attack. As he expected, someone started tapping on his window before long. Natsuno thought it's the guy who attacked Kaori earlier but oh, was he wrong... After a pretty nerve-wracking walk around the house by our mysterious okiagari, he decided to try the window anyway, even though the door was unlocked. So after tapping on the window a few more times, THAT happened. The okiagari spoke. He spoke with a voice that sounded a little too familiar to him. The soft, kind voice of his late best friend, Mutou Tohru. "Natsuno... Ore da yo."

Natsuno, immediately recognizing that voice and his name being called, tried convincing himself not to open the window, but even though he knew perfectly well it was safer to shut himself in like that, he couldn't resist the desire to see his friend's face once again and opened the window nevertheless. Tohru, more adorable than ever, immediately grabbed Natsuno's arm with one hand, covering his crying face with the other, but after meeting eyes with Natsuno, he gave up and ran away to cry behind a tree. At this point I was pouting, and having a real hard time swallowing. It was just heart-breaking to see our lovely Tohru-chan like that.

In the meantime Megumi is hurrying to Natsuno's house to take him for herself, but on her way she runs into Tohru and has a little chat with him, being a total bitch towards him and making him feel even worse. Tohru tells her that he was ordered to kill Natsuno by Tatsumi, who threatened to kill his younger brother and sister if he refused. But that wasn't even the reason for Tohru to try and kill his best friend, it was, because if he didn't do it, surely Tatsumi would order someone else to do it since they want to get rid of Natsuno anyway, because he found out about their dirty little secret.

Then we get to see Natsuno again, running around the forest calling out his best friend's name, while remembering some sweet memories of when Tohru-chan was still alive, until he runs into Tatsumi, who calls Megumi out to kill him. And then, just when you think Natsuno's going to be bitten by either Tatsumi or Megumi, all of a sudden Tohru-chan steps out of the shadows, crying even more than before, biting Natsuno before Megumi or Tatsumi have the chance.

The last thing we see this episode is Natsuno falling to the ground, his face pale and expressionless, just like everyone after being bitten by a Shiki. Why did this have to happen? Why?! WHYYY?! TT___TT

Overall, that was by far the most amazing episode so far. Everything about it was just perfect. The animation was flawless, the facial expressions were simply stunning and even the soundtrack was amazing. I am not the slightest bit disappointed on how they executed this, it was more than I was hoping for and exceeded my every expectation.

I think I can now safely say that this is in my opinion by far the best anime of this season. Probably even one of the best anime I have ever seen. Every episode leaves me craving for the next one, and several times a week, I find myself thinking "Is it friday yet?" When it all ends, I will rewatch this series at least once, probably more, and it'll be in my favourites for a loooooong time. It's just cruel that after next week episode, there will be a three-week-hiatus, which means NO SHIKI FOR THREE WEEKS. Now tell me, how on earth am I going to survive that?!? D8

Anime Overzicht Najaar 2010

Dit zij ze dan. De nieuwe anime voor volgend seizoen. In tegenstelling tot vorig seizoen zijn veel trailers op Youtube nog niet te vinden, maar het is nog vroeg. ^^

Deze keer heb ik dus voornamelijk op basis van plaatjes en synonpissen (wat een woord. O.o) besloten wat ik ga kijken. En dat zijn de volgende series:

Psychic Detective Yakumo

Ik heb werkelijk geen flauw idee wat ik hiervan moer verwachten, en dat is dan ook precies hetgeen dat me intrigeert. Volgens de chart gaat het over een college student die geesten ziet en gaat onderzoeken wat die geesten nog aan de aarde hecht. Klinkt niet heel bijzonder, mij doet het denken aan een mix tussen Bleach en Death Note, wat in principe niet heel veel goeds kan betekenen, maar de artstijl ziet er mooi en volwassen uit, en vanwege de mysterieuze sfeer die het uitstraalt kan ik het niet negeren. We weten allemaal dat ik een zwak heb voor mysterie, niet?

Kuragehime

Ook van deze serie weet ik niet goed wat ik moet verwachten. De plaatjes die ervan rondzwerven zien er wat trippy en haast surrealistisch uit, maar de synopsis klinkt redelijk slice-of-life. Een jonge vrouw in een huis vol fujoshi waar geen mannen mogen komen, nodigt een stijlvolle dame uit die.... Vermoedelijk een trap is. Het maakt me nieusgierig, dat om zijn minst. Bovendien ziet de art er goed uit en het is gebaseerd op een Josei manga, dus het zal niet al te puberaal en chliché zijn. Yami's interesse is gewekt.

Bakuman

Dit is een een serie waar ik best wel naar uitkijk. De manga is gemaakt door de zelfde mensen die Death Note in elkaar hebben geflanst, maar de thema's zijn totaal anders. Geen dodelijke boekjes en Shinigami's dit keer; Bakuman gaat over twee jongens die samen manga willen gaan maken. De één schrijft en de ander tekent. (Autobiografisch?) Zoals we van de makers van Death Note gewend zijn ziet de art er prachtig uit. En hoewel Death Note niet een van mijn favorieten was, ik zal moeten toegeven dat ik er redelijk verslaafd aan was, en het verhaal zat goed in elkaar. Lekker complex, en daar houdt Yami van.

Tegami Bachi -REVERSE-

Dit is zonder twijfel de anime waar ik het meest naar uitkijk. Na seizoen één achter elkaar verslonden te hebben smacht ik al maanden naar dat wat me begin april beloofd is. Het vervolg op één van mijn favoriete series aller tijden (tot nu toe ;]). Één van de dingen die ervoor zorgen dat ik van dit tweede seizoen nog meer verwacht dan van zijn voorganger, is het feit dat mijn favoriete personage Gauche Suede, die in seizoen 1 veel te weinig screentime had, nu gelist staat als een mainie, en dus waarschijnlijk dat gebrek aan screentime helemaal gaat rechtzetten. Inmiddels is ook de precieze datum dat de serie gaat beginnen bekend. Voorlopig tel ik de dagen tot 2 oktober, tevens de dag dat Bakuman begint.

Togainu no Chi

Ook dit is een anime waar ik erg naar uitkijk. Waarom? Twee redenen. De aantrekkelijk ogende personaged worden veelal ingesproken door getalenteerde seiyuus als Toriumi Kousuke, Sugita Tomokazu, Midorikawa Hikaru, en Fukuyama Jun. De andere reden zit hem in het genre shounen-ai. Jup, Yami houdt van yaoi. Hoewel de meeste shounen-ai/yaoi-series toch niet echt zijn wat ik hoop te zien, de enige andere shounen-ai anime die ik tot nu toe heb gezien (Loveless) is me zeer goed bevallen. Ook ziet de trailer er goed uit en is de art en animatie gewoon netjes verzorgd, wat natuurlijk altijd prettig is. Naast shounen-ai snijdt de serie natuurlijk nog andere thema's aan. Zo speelt het zich af in een futurischtische setting die de toekomst van Japan niet al te rooskleurig weergeeft.

The World God Only Knows

Deze serie gaat, van wat ik ervan heb begrepen, over een jongeman die bijzonder gespecialiseerd is op het gebied ero-games. Hij is zelfs zo goed dat hij in het gaming-circuit de bijnaam 'God' heeft gekregen. De zoveelste ecchi anime? Zou je denken, maar het genre ecchi staat er nergens bij. Mijn belangstelling voor het zien van deze twijfelachtige serie zit hem dan ook vooral in de nieuwsgierigheid hoe ze het voor elkaar kunnen krijgen om een fatsoenlijke anime in elkaar te zetten met zo'n vlakke verhaallijn. En al helemaal of het ze dan lukt om het ecchi-genre met rust te laten.

Otome Youkai Zakuro

Ook dit is een twijfelgeval; uitproberen en zien of het vol te houden is. Na een paar keer de synopsis gelezen te hebben weet ik nog steeds niet echt waar het over gaat. Meisjes met vossenoren, dat haal ik eruit. In ieder geval klinkt de verhaallijn niet bijzonder sterk, maar de serie oogt vermakelijk, en je weet maar nooit, een meesterwerk zit in een klein hoekje. ^^

Yosuga no Sora

Een anime als deze kan in feite twee kanten op gaan: Het kan een ontzettend mooi ontroerend verhaal worden, of het kan terugvallen op clichés en gewoon saai en vervelend worden. Natuurlijk kan er ook nog iets onvoorspelbaars gebeuren (Ik heb de genres geloof ik nog niet bekeken. xD) maar die mogelijkheid laten we even terzijde. Sora en Haruka zijn een tweeling die na het overlijden van hun moeder teruggaan naar het huis van hun grootvader waar ze vroeger iedere zomer kwamen, en trekken bij hem in. De synopsis heeft het lekker mysterieus over wat nou eigenlijk de èchte reden is dat ze teruggaan. Die echte reden, daar ben ik nieuwsgierig naar. Het ziet er een beetje uit als een Myself;Yourself-achtige anime, maar dat is niet heel slecht, we zullen zien.

Ore No Imouto Ga Konnani Kawaii Wake Ga Nai

Deze anime zegt te gaan over een jongen met een veel te populair jonger zusje. Dat is dan ook meteen eigenlijk alles wat ons verteld wordt, en genoeg om mijn interesse te wekken. Het klinkt als een highschool/slice of life comedy, maar wat me wel meteen opviel is dat we het hebben over een seinen anime. Ik ben wel benieuwd hoe zoiets op een volwassen publiek gaan richten, en bovendien is het wel aardig dat het deze keer eens gaat over de broer van het schattige populaire meisje, in plaats van over haarzelf of de jongen die een oogje op haar heeft.

Dat waren wel zo'n beetje alle series die ik dit seizoen van plan ben te gaan volgen, op wat OVAatjes na dan. Het zijn er 9 en dat lijkt me ook ruim genoeg, aangezien er van de vijf airing series die ik nu volg, er ook 2 nog een seizoentje meegaan. Misschien dat ik Amagami SS laat vallen als het me teveel wordt, maar dat zien we dan wel. In ieder geval zie ik het nieuwe seizoen tegemoet met veel goede moed, en zit wat mij betreft een stuk meer interessants tussen dan vorig seizoen. Of ik nog wat ga reviewen en wat, dat zie ik dan wel weer, even kijken wat het waard is en of ik er tijd en zin voor heb. Verwacht in ieder geval een stukje per aflevering van Tegami Bachi -REVERSE-, maar ook dat kan ik niet beloven aangezien ik niet weet hoeveel tijd ik dit schooljaar over ga hebben. Dit is namelijk niet zomaar een jaar als alle anderen, nee nee, dit jaar doet Yami eindexamen!

So yeah... Stuff got seriously creepy just now, creepier than Higurashi. This is gonna be my new recommendation to everyone says that anime is childish, cause hell, Higurashi is Gummy Bears compared to this!

Over the last episodes, a lot of people have been dying, and Doctor Ozaki suspects an epidemic. However, the symptoms are unclear. He manages to determine anemia for most of the victims, but that can't be the cause of death, and none of the victims show any sign of internal bleedings. This disease is a mystery. Of course to us, it's not, because we all know the victims are being killed of by a bunch of vampires. Still the story succeeds to remain unpredictable, although showing subtle signs of what is to come. For example in episode 3, we got to see how one of the victims invited Mr. & Mrs Vampire over at his mansion. The same episode, his wife died, and one episode later, so did he and his child. The lesson of this story; NEVER EVER INVITE A VAMPIRE OVER AT YOUR HOUSE. As we got to see in the last episode, our dearest Tohru, Natsuno's only friend and potential non-canon lover, didn't get this right.

After being helped out by the servant of the Kirishiki family, he invited the creepy cat-eared guy to come over some time. I already knew back then, the tragic destiny the writers had in mind for him.

Normally I'd say something like "DIE MEGUMI! YOU PINK-HAIRED, GOTHIC-DRESSING, NATSUNO-HAUNTING, CUTE-GUY-WITH-YAOI-POTENTIAL-BITING BITCH! DIE!"

But saying that now wouldn't make any sense since she's already dead and she was probably better of alive...

Somewhere deep down I still hope that Natsuno will somehow manage to save Tohru, but I'm afraid it's to no avail, judging from die OP also. TTwTT

Ookami-san to Shinichinin to Nakama-tachi, episode 4

Oh my, this was definitely my favourite episode so far! It was absolutely hilarious all the way through, and then nearing the end, it made a shocking twist. I never expected this show to get this serious, but surprisingly, it really worked, and I was moved!

This week's episode was based on a Japanese folk tale called The Crane's Repayment, about a man who saves a crane. One day, the crane turns back to him as a beautiful woman, and becomes his wife. The man is poor, but the crane starts weaving cloths with her own feathers for him to sell on the market for high prices, but once the man discovers his true form, she flies away, leaving only her last finished cloth.

This episode was focused around Otsuu-senpai, the maid who had an obsession with returning favors. After being saved by Ryoushi, she decides to return the favor by stalking him, which is a problem to Ryoushi, so Ringo and Ryouko decide to help him. After uncovering the sad truth behind Ostuu-senpai's obsession, Ringo comes up with a plan to help her: They all dress up as maids (YES THE GUYS TOO! 8D) and serve Otsuu-san for a day.

Okay, I laughed a LOT during this episode, but the Hansel & Gretel thing nearly killed me. It turns out that Ryoushi lives with a the student council president and his secretary. In other words, Hansel and his sister Gretel, who, according to the narrator, have already gotten over the fact that they're siblings.

Pfft.

*Bursts out in laughter*

Okay, that was funny.

I really like the way this show is progressing. Even though there doesn't seem to be a real plot, I'm thourouly enjoying the fairytale parodies. I only just noticed that the very title of this show refers to Snow White, and Ringo, apart from Little Red Riding Hood, to the poisoned apple! That must be why she's so evil despite looking so sweet! Brilliant, just brilliant.

Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin, episode 3

But she's a horrible driver. (Even though she has a kick-ass car...)

Maya is NOT AMUSED with her small amount of screentime. And neither am I.

This episode was significantly weaker than the prior ones, partly because of the lack of Maya. The episode was focused on Fumiaki, and the most of it felt pretty pointless.

It started off hilarious with Fumiaki complimenting Kawashima about her hairstyle, which was apparently her weak spot, causing her to fall for him and trying to kiss her. While trying to push her away, Fumiaki takes a photo of her with his cellphone to see what his future would be like if he'd hook up with her...

Well that gave me a good laugh.

That night, Fumiaki went to eat curry somewhere and fell hard for the waitress. After eating curry at the same place a number of times, he went with the waitress for a bit of sightseeing in the city. Nothing partivularly interesting happened until Maya got attacked by something, and that was the end.

I'm a little disappointed about this, but I'm guessing the waitress might become somehow important to the rest of the plot. If not, they wasted almost an entire episode on an insignificant character, and I can't see that happening. Ah well, on to next week to see what was attacking Maya.
